There was one last sale on Star Trek Online before free-to-play began (right now, F2P is open to anyone who had an existing account even if they stopped playing/paying, and it goes live for new players 17-01). I splurged and bought an Oberth-class (Remember Grissom? Pegasus? Tsiolkovsky? Vico?)
Yes, that’s right, I bought the Star Trek-starship equivalent of a red shirt.
Right now, I have one junior science officer character who can use it (only for 2 grades before he graduates to a big-boy starship)… but for under $2 I figured I could indulge a little Search For Spock/Next Generation sentimentality. Besides, it comes with a shield-boosting console that can be used on other, better ships.
